Large house fire battled in Callahan County

A large house fire took place Friday night on County Road 251 just outside of Clyde in Callahan County.

Volunteer fire departments from Eula, Baird, Clyde and Potosi responded to the large inferno and used a great deal of water to try and extinguish the flames.

The fire was so large that it could be seen from many miles away on multiple stretches of road and from numerous surrounding communities.

KTXS spoke to the owner of the house, who escaped from the blaze unscathed, who said that there were several dogs trapped inside of the burning residence, at least a few of which have now reportedly perished in the blaze.

According to the Taylor County Sheriff's Office, four people lived at the house that went up in flames.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, although a space heater is believed to have played a large factor in starting the fire.

Authorities say that the house that went up in flames will most likely be declared a total loss as a result of the blaze.

Stay turned to KTXS for more details on this developing story.
