Major tornado damage at Robertson and Middleton units in Hamby

A tornado caused major damage at the Robertson Unit and Middleton Unit in Hamby.

Photos show cars and trucks were tossed around the parking lot. Abilene police estimated 75 or more.

The Robertson Unit’s perimeter fence was destroyed, according to APD.

The Middleton Unit suffered some fence damage.

At least one brick wall suffered damage.

The storm also blew out windows and blew off the roof of a highway gate building.

No staff or offenders are injured, according to prison officials.

The NWS reported "a debris ball" near Hamby, which is indicative of a possible tornado.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice is still gathering information and we will have the latest update as soon as possible.

The same tornado hit two homes on County Road 152.
