‘Movie’ money circulating around Abilene

Abilene police say to look for "Motion Picture Use Only" on the bill. (Photo: Abilene Police)

The Abilene Police Department is once again warning people about “movie” money circulating around the city.

APD’s fraud unit said phony ten and twenty dollar bills -- used by movie companies as props -- are being used to buy goods and services.

Detectives say you should look for the phrase “Motion Picture Use Only” on the front and back of the bill.

In Nov. 2016, three people were arrested for using “movie” money at more than 20 local businesses, including a movie theater.
