Police release video of gunman who shot AutoZone employee during robbery
SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Police Department has released video of the suspect who they say shot an employee at an auto supply store during a robbery.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, the shooter walked into the store on Marbach Road near Jay High School just after 10 p.m. on Monday and shot the employee in the shoulder. He reportedly said nothing before firing the gunshot.
They say he grabbed a second employee and forced him toward the back of the store to open a safe. After grabbing everything in the safe, the shooter walked back toward the front of the store and tried to shoot the injured worker a second time, but his gun jammed.
Investigators say he then grabbed the bullet casings from the floor and ran out the door. Police are scouring surveillance video in hopes of getting a good description of the thief.
The injured employee, later identified as 31-year-old Johnny Tschetter, was taken to University Hospital in critical condition.
