SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio River is going green this month in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

On Friday, March 17, the river will be dyed green from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A total of 25 gallons of eco-friendly dye will be spread during each event.

The Bud Light St. Patrick’s Festival will take place at the Arneson River Theatre from 3-8 p.m. on March 17 and from noon to 5 p.m. on March 18.

St. Patrick’s Day River Parade will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. along the Museum Reach and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. along the downtown stretch on Saturday. Both parades are free to attend.

“Several bagpipers will grace the floats along with other entertainers. This event started in 1969 and has been organized by the Visit San Antonio River Walk and the Harp & Shamrock Society of Texas since that time,” according to Visit San Antonio.
