AUSTIN, Texas — A state senator is asking for your help as lawmakers work to figure out what caused the state's power grid to fail last week leading to massive power outages.
State Senator Jose Menendez is asking people to fill out a quick survey before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Menendez said the information will be used for committee hearings about ERCOT.
The first hearing is Thursday at 9 a.m.
According to the notice about the hearing, the Senate Committee on Business and Commerce will "examine extreme weather condition preparedness and circumstances that led to the power outages as directed by Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). The committee will also review generator preparedness and performance, utility outage practices, natural gas supply, and the reliability of renewable generation, as well as overall ERCOT system resilience."
