Sweetwater police arrest man after finding human trafficking victims in vehicle

Sweetwater police arrested a man after they found human trafficking victims in a vehicle he was driving.

According to a press release, police stopped a white Chevrolet Tahoe that was traveling eastbound on IH20 Friday.

Officers discovered the vehicle was loaded with multiple human trafficking victims. The driver, Ramon Rodriguez Lopez admitted to smuggling people.

Lopez was arrested and several people that had been deprived of food were given a meal donated from a local Whataburger. They were transported for further processing to the United States Border Patrol.

Lopez was booked on the felony offense of Smuggling of Persons and is currently being held in the Nolan County Jail.
