Michigan State Police released a video of a man pointing a laser at a police helicopter and firing a rifle before troopers on the ground shot and killed him.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday Detroit, Michigan.

A police helicopter known as Trooper 2 was circling a neighborhood when the pilot spotted a green laser being pointed at the helicopter from an upstairs window of a two-story house.

The pilot radioed the location to have police respond to the address.

A short time later, a man came out the back door and pointed a rifle at the helicopter and began shooting.

He actually might be, he might be armed. He almost looks like he’s holding a long gun pointing at us right now. Yeah, he’s shooting at us right now,” a trooper said.

Troopers from the Meteo South post responded and approached the home on foot.

They said the man started firing and they returned fire, killing the man.

Authorities said the suspect, a 33-year-old from Lincoln Park, had been staying in the abandoned home.

Detectives located six firearms, including the one held by the man.

The man has not been identified.
