LAREDO, Texas (WKRC) - Parents of a 3-year-old girl in Texas are in custody after being accused of putting her remains in a container full of acid.

Laredo Police says that the parents admitted to them that the girl somehow drowned while she wasn't being watched, and that they were trying to dispose of her remains.

Police say that they got an anonymous tip on Thursday that led them to a bucket that contained the remains. They found the bucket hidden inside one of the couple's bedroom closets.

The district attorney described the scene as "overwhelming".

"As you can imagine, it's very difficult for all of us in law enforcement and in and for the first responders to be in a situation to come across a scene like we did yesterday," said Isidro Alaniz Laredo, Webb County District Attorney, according to KGNS News on Friday.

Four other children who belong to the couple are with child protective services.
