SAN FRANCISCO (TND) — Authorities released body camera footage Friday of the moment Paul Pelosi was attacked with a hammer in his San Francisco home.
The video shows police approaching Pelosi's residence and being greeted at the door by Pelosi and his assailant, identified by authorities as 42-year-old David DePape.
When the door opens, the two appear to be caught up in a struggle for control of a hammer. When police ask what's happening, the assailant replies "everything's good."
The situation quickly escalates as the assailant, believed to be DePape, refuses to drop the hammer despite an order from police. He then pulls the hammer from Pelosi's hand and swings it at him.
Police swiftly tackle and restrain the assailant. Paul Pelosi can be seen in the video lying injured on the ground before police radio for medics.
