4-alarm fire destroys San Angelo warehouse

Firefighters are trying to determine the cause of a 4-alarm fire that destroyed a warehouse on W. 3rd Street in San Angelo.

The fire in the warehouse district started around Noon and was under control by 1:20 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting through the roof.

Reporters from San Angelo LIVE! heard an explosion and saw the roof and a wall collapse.

“We saved thousands and thousands of square feet of building. These guys did a great job.," said Assistant Fire Chief Todd Sanford. “They did an outstanding job realizing that one was gone and saving all the other properties on scene.”

One captain suffered heat exhaustion but did he did not have to be taken to the hospital.

The building is near the San Angelo Central High School freshman Campus.
