Arrest made in Tom Green County murder of mother found in dumpster
SAN ANGELO, Texas -- An arrest has been made in the death of a 24-year-old mother whose body was found earlier this week in a dumpster in Tom Green County.
Charged with murder is 30-year-old Andres Rios Ramirez, according to Tom Green County jail records.
The arrest was made after the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s help in finding Camille Garcia’s killer.
Ramirez confessed to killing Garcia during questioning, the sheriff's office said in a news release .
On Tuesday, someone discovered Garcia’s body in a dumpster in the 1000 block of Cactus Lane - off Hwy 87 north of San Angelo. Texas Rangers joined the sheriff’s office in processing the scene, a Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office news release said Tuesday.
An autopsy determined Garcia died from a single gunshot sound.
After conducting interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday, investigators from the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers and San Angelo Police Department labeled Ramirez a “subject of interest” in the investigation.
According to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, deputy Grayson Heirs stopped Ramirez on in south San Angelo for not having a valid driver license. During the traffic stop, Heirs found a loaded pistol in the vehicle – and Ramirez was taken in for questioning. That's when he reportedly confessed.
On Wednesday, a search warrant was issued and executed in the 600 block of Antonio Street in San Angelo.
"Evidence was seized from the residence that established the fact that the murder occurred at the residence," the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office news release said.
Ramirez was booked into jail late Wednesday. No bond has been set.

The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office has ruled the death of Camille Garcia a homicide and is asking for the public’s help in identifying her killer or killers.

“Anyone who has been acquainted with or knows Garcia, or has had any contact with her in the past week, to please contact the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office as soon as possible,” the release said.
