Gov. Abbott holds fundraiser in San Angelo
SAN ANGELO, Texas – With a staggering $43.3 million already in his campaign coffers, Governor Greg Abbott held a fundraising lunch Tuesday in San Angelo.
Tickets for the event at Angelo State University ranged from $100 to $5,000 dollars.
Abbott is running unopposed in March. He will face one of nine democrats in November.
The list of democrats on the ballot includes Andrew White – the son of former Texas Governor Mark White – and former Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez.
Abbott had raised more than $43 million by the end of last year. To put that into perspective, Valdez had raised about $40,000 and White had no cash on hand, according to campaign finance reports filed with the Texas Ethics Commission.
