(Tom Green County Jail)

The driver of a Dodge Ram 1500 crashed into a tree Friday in San Angelo.

San Angelo resident Cody Salazar, 28, was arrested following the crash, which left three passengers injured.

The truck, carrying Salazar and the three passengers, collided with a tree in the 200 block of Paint Rock Road just before midnight.

According to police, there was an extensive investigation following the accident and an arrest warrant was issued for Salazar. He was found to have left the scene, abandoning the three injured passengers.

The investigation revealed that Salazar was involved in an altercation at the Stripes Convenience store located down the road just before the accident. Salazar collided with a gas pump at the Stripes before speeding down the road and hitting the tree.

Reports say that "the force of the collision caused the truck’s passenger side to peel away from the truck’s body."

There were three passengers riding in the truck with Salazar. According to San Angelo Live!, the passengers were revealed to be Yolanda Valencia, Daniella Bejil, and Alfred "Jimmy" Bejil. All were injured and rushed to Shannon Medical Center.

Salazar was booked into the Tom Green County Jail and charged with Accident Involving Serious Injury or Death. His Bond has been set at $50,000.
