San Angelo man charged with murder after backyard shooting

SAN ANGELO, Texas — ASan Angelo man will be charged with murder after a backyard shooting.

Shorty before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of Walnut Street. They were told four shots were fired and one person was hit "for sure."

A few minutes later, police located the suspect,Gabriel James Ortiz Sr., in the 2000 block of Bailey Street.

The body of Ernesto Hernandez, 28, was found in a nearby backyard.

Police say he died of one or more gunshot wounds.

Ortiz is being held on a $250,000 bond.
