Beaumont murder suspect arrested at Houston-area hotel

Desmond Bennett

A 22-year-old Beaumont man charged with the killing of Anthony Green last December was arrested in Houston on Tuesday after more than a month searching for the suspect, according to the Beaumont Police Department.

Desmond Bennett was taken into custody without incident with the assistance of the Harris County SWAT team, Beaumont PD said in a news release. BPD detectives and U.S. Marshals followed a tip that led them to a Houston area hotel, where Bennett was found.

He was brought back to Beaumont to face the murder charge.

KFDM/Fox 4 reporter Peter Eliopoulos was at BPD headquarters downtown Tuesday afternoon as Bennett was escorted into a patrol unit.

Green, 20, was gunned down Dec. 28 at a car wash at 3025 Washington Boulevard. The next day, police obtained a warrant for Bennett's arrest.

Detectives are still looking for David Parkerson in connection to Green's killing.
