AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A 15-year-old Texas boy accused of killing his father and his father's girlfriend was indicted for capital murder.
A Randall County grand jury indicted Chris Lee Knight on Wednesday for capital murder of multiple persons.
Tyler James Knight, 33, and Bethany Marie Mullican, 28, were found shot to death Nov. 7, 2022, at Lakeview Mobile Home Park.
Tyler's son Chris was taken into custody.
According to court documents, the case was transferred to adult criminal court in part because "the prospects of adequate protection of the public and the likelihood of the rehabilitation of the child by procedures, services and facilities of the juvenile court is poor."
Knight is being held in the Youth Center of the High Plains, instead of the the Randall County Jail, because of his age.
He turned 15 about a month before the murders.
According to The Daily Citizen, Knight was arrested Nov. 8 in Judsonia, Arkansas, about an hour northeast of Little Rock.
Knight stole his father's cell phone and car.
APD contacted the White County Sheriff's Office and said Knight, who used to live there, might be in the area.
Sheriff Phillip Miller told the paper they pinged the cell phone and located Knight who was also in possession of a .45 handgun.
