Elderly couple found dead in home after house fire near Buna

Buna and Evadale firefighters responded to a house fire early Monday morning at 4980 County Road 716, known as Reese Road, and first responders found the bodies of an elderly couple inside after putting out the flames.

Fire investigators say a 97-year-old woman and her 93-year-old husband died in the fire.

Sheriff Mitchel Newman says investigators are searching for the cause of the fire that destroyed the home.

A judge has ordered autopsies to determine the cause of death.
