UMBARGER, Texas (KVII) — UPDATE:
The Texas Department of Public Safety has released more details of a crash that killed one man on U.S. 60 west of Umbarger on Wednesday morning.
According to DPS officials, at about 4 a.m., the driver, identified as Cesar Gonzalez, 45, of Houston, was heading west on U.S. 60 in a 2008 International 920 Truck Tractor towing a 1998 utility semi-trailer when it is believed Gonzalez fell asleep. The semi then veered off the road into the center median where it rolled over onto its top and caught fire with the driver trapped inside.
Gonzalez was pronounced dead on the scene.
Texas DPS remains investigating the crash.
UPDATE:
U.S. 60 has reopened and the roadways are clear, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Sgt. Cindy Barkley.
UPDATE at 8:25 a.m. 3/6: The Texas Department of Public Safety reports one eastbound lane of U.S. 60 has been reopened near Umbarger.
UPDATE 6:42 a.m. 3/6: The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed at least one death in a tractor-trailer rollover on U.S. 60 at Adkisson Road west of Umbarger.
