Governor Abbott wants lawmakers to reinstate Longhorns-Aggies rivalry game
It's time to bring back the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies rivalry game.
Just ask Texas governor Greg Abbott. In his State of the State address Tuesday Abbott said he wants lawmakers to reinstate the rivalry game between the two football programs.
House Bill 412 from Texas Rep. Lyle Larson would require the universities to schedule a football game every November.
The last meeting between the two teams was Nov. 24, 2011. The Longhorns won 27-25 in College Station to round out the century-old rivalry before the Aggies moved over to the SEC.
Last month the university presidents for Texas and Texas A&M supported renewing the rivalry.
