Indicted: Clyde man accused of getting 15-year-old girl pregnant
CLYDE, Texas —
A Clyde man was indicted Thursday by a Taylor County Grand Jury for getting a 15-year-old girl pregnant.
Garrett Chandler Kennedy, 25, was arrested in October of 2017 and charged with sexual assault of a child.
The victim told police in January 2017 that she believed that she was six weeks pregnant with Kennedy’s baby.
She told police at the time that she lived with her mother, stepfather and her stepfather's friend and co-worker, Garrett Chandler Kennedy.
She said that they repeatedly had sex in her bedroom and that her mother and stepfather “approve” of the relationship and allow Kennedy to sleep in her bedroom.
The victim said that she was not forced to have sex with Kennedy and did not want Kennedy "to be in trouble."
At the time that the victim got pregnant, Kennedy would have been 23.
Kennedy declined to speak with police because he wanted to speak to an appointed attorney.
