Two arrested after deadly Downtown Austin crash

UPDATE 5:10 p.m.: Police have identified the man killed in a Downtown Austin crash early Monday morning.

Dean Michael Hood, 27, died at the scene of the crash near the I-35 and Cesar Chavez Street intersection. Two others, a man and a woman, were arrested in connection to the incident. Police have not released their names or what charges they are facing.

Further details were not immediately available.


One person died and two were sent to the hospital after a fatal car crash in downtown Austin early Monday morning.

Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services responded to the accident on the 700 block of East Cesar Chavez Street at around 2:20 a.m.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other, a woman and a man in their 20s, were transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with non life threatening injuries, according to ATCEMS.

Due tot he deadly crash, the exit for Cesar Chavez off of I-35 S. was closed to traffic.
