Prices going up at Padre Island National Seashore
SAN ANTONIO —
If you're planning a summer getaway to Padre Island National Seashore, be ready to pay a bit more at the park entrance.
Starting June 1, the cost of a 1-day vehicle pass will be $10. This is a new fee. Previously, $10 paid for a 7-day pass for one vehicle.
A 7-day pass (for one vehicle) will now cost $20.
The cost of an annual pass will increase from $20 to $40; the cost of a pedestrian fee will increase from $5 to $10.
Park-goers under the age of 16 are not charged for entry into the park.
Park fees pay for park amenities, public restrooms and boardwalk repairs, as well as a wildlife viewing station. Some of the money will also be used to fund new exhibits at the visitor center.
