A new class of medical professionals are putting their white coats on for the first time.
On Saturday, UTRGV welcomed the third class of students pursing a medical profession.
They celebrated with a rite of passage for medical students.
"It feels amazing, it feels like such a symbol of professionalism. We really truly are on the road to becoming medical professionals so it's really great," said Vanessa Sanchez, who was an accepted medical student.
In addition to the robing ceremony, students also will take the Hippocratic Oath, which acknowledges their primary role as caregivers.
