Bicyclist dies after being hit by SUV in south Abilene

ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Police Department says that the woman who was hit by an SUV while riding her bicycle in south Abilene on Saturday night has died.

The Abilene Police Department has identified the victim as April Gist, 35, of Abilene.

According to the Abilene Police Department, Gist was crossing South 27th Street between South Willis and Barrow streets on her bicycle around 9 on Saturday night when she was hit by a Chevy HHR.

Gist was transported to Hendrick Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV, a 29-year-old woman, has not been charged and the investigation into the incident remains active.
