Netflix rolls out plan to crack down on account sharing

If you share or borrow a Netflix password from someone, you may need to start paying for your own account soon.

Netflix says it is rolling out paid account sharing toward the end of March.

It is still unclear how paid password sharing will be enforced or how much it will cost. But the streaming giant estimates more than 100 million households share accounts, which it says undermines its ability to invest in and improve the platform.

Netflix says people may cancel their accounts because of this, but they expect more borrower households will start their own accounts.
