The hoops offseason is still young, but ACU women's basketball is making noise already, after signing touted junior college transfer Jazz Taylor on Wednesday.

The 5-foot-8 point guard was an ESPN top 100 recruit in 2015 as well as an Adidas All-American and previously played at Rice University before attending Collin County Community College in 2017, helping her team win an NJTCAC conference title with a 26-5 record.

Her best performance included games against Cisco College and McLennan – combining for 39 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and two steals, good enough for NJTCAC Player of the Week on January 29.

She also was named NJTCAC Newcomer of the Year after posting season averages of 9.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.8 steals per game through 31 starts. Taylor additionally shot 38.8 percent from the field and 80.2 from the free-throw line.

The Duncanville high school grad joins an ACU squad under Julie Goodenough that lost only two seniors off last year's 16-win team that made it to the Southland Conference Quarterfinals in its first year of eligibility.
