Albany football falls to Gruver in state semifinal game
PLAINVIEW, Texas —
The Albany Lions' motto this season has been 'Make Your Mark' -- a challenge to the senior class that it was time to put their stamp on the storied program.
Though the Lions fell in Thursday's state semifinal game to Gruver, it is difficult to say the players did not accomplish the goal their motto set out.
Albany's season ended with a 30-17 loss, one win from the Class 2A Division II title game. The Lions finished the season at 9-6, making an incredible turnaround from losing their first five games of the season to winning the district championship and reaching the fifth round of the playoffs.
