On a cold and blustery Friday night, the dreams of a run to state ended for two soccer teams, with one dancing on into the regional semifinals.

In the first game, the Cooper Lady Cougars went down 1-nil at halftime against district foe Monterey, but couldn't use the wind to its advantage in the second half, having its season end in the regional quarterfinal, 2-0.

In game two, a duel of district rivals went down to the final minutes. Wylie and Brownwood both had significant opportunities at the net, despite the Lady Bulldogs dominating the time of posession in the first half.

In the second, Randie Dennison, Wylie's leading scorer, broke the game open with just 3:37 remaining in the game -- thus being the difference, lifting Wylie to the 1-4A regional semifinals over their rival, 1-0.

Wylie will face Castleberry at 1 p.m. next Friday, April 13 in the Region I-4A semifinals.
