Eastland names Bobby Schuman as new football coach, James Morton steps down

Eastland ISD has hired Bobby Schuman as the new head coach for Eastland football. The announcement was made after James Morton stepped down as head coach but will remain on staff as athletic director for the Mavericks.

Schuman has been with the EISD’s athletic department since 2017 and has served as the head coach for boys and girls track teams and special teams coordinator for Eastland football.

His wife, Rachel, is currently serving as head coach for Eastland's softball team.

Morton spent seven seasons as head coach for the Mavericks, claiming two district titles and six playoff appearances. Last season, Eastland struggled with a 1-9 overall record.
