Stamford Bulldogs highlight Class 2A All-State football teams

The Texas Associated Press Sports Editors Class 2A All-State high school football teams were released, with a handful of Big Country athletes being named.

Stamford quarterback Peyton Bevel led the way as the state's Offensive Player of the Year. Bevel threw for nearly 4,000 yards and scored 55 total touchdowns in the Bulldogs' season which ended in the area round of the playoffs.

Many of Bevel's passes went to fellow senior Trace Edwards, who was honored as a First-Team wide receiver. Edwards hauled in 55 passes for 1,373 yards and 14 touchdowns.

On defense, Stamford's Carson Holt was named a First-Team linebacker with 189 tackles. Cross Plains defensive back Theron Allen also landed on the First-Team with 112 tackles, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
