Owen Simpson

Owen Simpson is the weekend sports and news anchor & sports reporter for KTXS. He joined the station in February 2022.

Before joining the team, he graduated from Abilene Christian University in 2021 with a degree in broadcast journalism. He spent several years as an ESPN+ broadcaster for the Wildcats and continues to fill in for ACU and other local universities.

While Abilene, Texas may be his college hometown, Owen has lived in Texas since 2004, growing up just north of Austin.

Just months after beginning sports coverage as a student, he covered ACU's first NCAA Tournament appearance in Jacksonville, Florida as the Wildcats faced Kentucky. Two years later, Owen was in Indianapolis when 14-seed ACU upset 3-seed Texas in the 2021 NCAA Tournament First Round.

Since joining KTXS, he has interviewed NBA stars like Steph Curry and Luka Doncic while also covering four Big Country State Champions at AT&T Stadium in 2022.

When he isn't working, Owen enjoys spending time with his wife, working out and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns.
